Day 2: Delhi - Shekawati

This morning, drive to Shekawati region which was established in the 18th century along a caravan trade route where migrated Marwar community made it their home. These rich business people built big havelis (mansions) and commissioned artists to paint frescoes on their havelis as a sign of opulence.

Day 3: Shekawati - Bikaner

Morning visit to one of the old havelis (mansions), with walls decorated with intricate painted frescoes.

Your guide will tell you the story behind all those paintings relating of a golden era, traditions, personal stories of the family etc. Have also a tour at the colorful market.

Lunch in Shekawati and drive to the city of Bikaner.

Bikaner is famous all over the country for its delicious sweets and for its camels.

Visit the camel farm of Bikaner. Camels from Bikaner are said to be the most vigorous in the world. The camel farm has a reproduction center but also a little museum explaining the specificities of this strong and friendly animal.

Have you ever drunk a glass of milk? What about a glass of camel milk? Grab a glass at the milk-bar counter!

Day 4: Bikaner - Jaisalmer

This morning is dedicated to the discovery of Bikaner. Start with the visit of the great fort of the city. From the outside you can admire this gigantic monument and then proceed to the visit of the attached museum explaining in details the royal clothing tradition.

Take the road and quickly stop for lunch at the exit of Bikaner, in a former palace located on the banks of a lake. Take your time to enjoy this exceptional lunch venue !

Departure to Jaisalmer via the road of the desert: landscapes are suddenly changing for flat and sandy ground.

Arrival in the heart of the desert, in Jaisalmer, is also named « the yellow city » for the colors of the stones used to build the old town and the fort. Jaisalmer is the last city before the frontier with Pakistan.

Day 5: Jaisalmer

Today is dedicated to the discovery of the yellow city of Jaisalmer.

Start with a stroll in the heart of the fort. The fort of Jaisalmer is the only one being still inhabited. Numerous souvenir shops are located on the ground floor of the beautiful and finely carved traditional stone houses.

Head to the local market and then to the haveli street: 2 magnificent havelis will impress you by the detail of their carving.

Lunch at your hotel and early afternoon at leisure to rest and enjoy your hotel.

Day 6: Jaisalmer - Jodhpur

At the exit of Jaisalmer, short stop at the war museum and get to know more about the different conflicts between India and its neighbor Pakistan.

Today, you will visit of Jodhpur’ highlights. The city is distinguished by a massive fort that tops a sheer rocky ridge rising in the middle of the town: Mehrangarh Fort Founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, the chief of a Rajput clan known as Rathores,

Continue your visit to Jaswant Thaada, a white marble cenotaph of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The Jaswant Thaada is also a great place to admire the outside of the Mehrangarh fort.

Day 7: Jodhpur - Ranakpur - Udaipur

After breakfast, departure to Ranakpur.

The site of Ranakpur is famous for its amaizing monuments, among which the Adinath Temple is the most reknown: it is a stone carved jaïn temple with a complex architecture. Discover this temple from the outside.

Late lunch in Ranakpur.

Continue your way toward the south of the state of Rajasthan to reach the city of Udaipur. Landscapes on this road are spectacular.

Arrive in late afternoon in Udaipur, also named the « white city ». This town is famous for its romantic and peaceful Pichola lake.

Udaipur is a quiet city where you will enjoy wandering and shopping.

Day 8: Udaipur

Start your day softly with a tour in the peaceful park of Sahélion Ki Bari and its moghols gardens. Indian families like to go there to enjoy the refreshing fountains.

The City Palace is one of the largest palaces in the world and is a magical monument. Still inhabited by the royal family, you will visit the palace from the outside platforms.

Enjoy a fancy thali lunch on the terrace of the hotel-museum hosting the vintage car collection of the Maharaja!

In the afternoon, take a tour in the old city. Magic is in the air of Udaipur!

Day 9: Udaipur - Pushkar - Jaipur

This morning, take the road to the holy city of Pushkar and its holy lake. Certainly one of the most enjoyable little town of North India!

The holy city of Pushkar is a sacred town for the Hindus. In the center of town is holy Pushkar lake surrounded by a number of temples including the famous Bramha temple - said to be the only temple in the world dedicated to this deity. A dip in the waters of Pushkar lake and worship at Bramha temple ensure salvation to the pilgrims.

On arrival in Pushkar, take a walk through the Ghats leading to the lake and visit the Brahma temple. Pushkar is also a fantastic place for shopping! Take some time for yourself if you want to bring back some souvenirs! You will find plenty of clothes, items of home decoration, silver jewels and plenty more.

In the afternoon, continue the ride to Jaipur, named as the “Pink City”.

Day 10: Jaipur

Morning excursion to Amber Fort. Amber was once the ancient capital of Jaipur state. The Fort is a superb example of Rajput architecture, stunningly situated on a hillside and overlooking a lake, which reflects its terraces and ramparts.

This afternoon you will visit the City Palace which is still the home of the former royalty Bhawani Singh Ji of Jaipur housing an extensive collection of art, carpets and old weapons.

Continue to visit Jantar Mantar: the Observatory. At first glance, Jantar Mantar appears to be a curious collection of sculptures but in fact each construction has a specific purpose such as measuring the positions of stars, altitudes and azimuths, and calculating eclipses. The most striking instrument is the sundial with its 27 meter high gnomon.

Just before sunset, witness an unusual ceremony at the Govind Devji temple. The temple hosts a very popular sculpture of a divinity which is showed only at certain times of the day. When the curtain opens up to show the sculpture, a funny ritual is made by believers! Let’s not say more to keep the surprise!

Day 11: Jaipur

Morning at leisure to enjoy some rest.

An outstanding experience is waiting for you this afternoon for which a new friend will join you. Short introduction of your new friend: he is 8 feet tall, has a funny nose, he is kind, graceful and playful! Team up with an elephant! Spend time with him/her to learn about his needs and conditions of leaving and participate into plenty of fun activities!

On your return way, visit the Birla Mandir, a magnificent modern white marble temple dedicated to lord Vishnu and the goddess Lakshmi.

Day 12: Jaipur - Agra

Departure this morning to Agra , home of the Taj Mahal !

En-route stop at Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted capital of Emperor Akbar approximately 35 kms outside Agra. Built in the 16th century, this city was abandoned 12 years later due to a scarcity of water. The entire city of Red sand stone (sand stone palaces and temples) remains intact.The site is fully accessible thanks to soft access ramps.

Lunch on arrival in Agra followed by the visit of the Taj Mahal (closed on Friday).

The Taj Mahal was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaj Mahal who died during the birth of her child in 1631. The construction is said to have taken 22 years to complete, starting from 1631, with over 20,000 craftsmen working round the clock.

Day 13: Agra - Delhi

This morning, have a ride back to Dehli and lunch will be served upon arrival.

After lunch, visit the highlights of the capital.

Pass by the presidential palace, the India Gate as well as the house of the parliament.

Continue with the visit of the Raj Ghat which is a memorial of the most popular personality of India: Mahatma Gandhi. The Raj Ghat is a black marble platform that marks the spot of Mahatma Gandhi's cremation, on 31 January 1948, a day after his assassination. It is left open to the sky while an eternal flame burns.

It is now time to proceed to the airport for you to board your international flight back home.
